BIOGRAPHY
Kareem Rizk is an Australian self-taught collage and mixed media artist, living and working in Denmark. Informed by his background in graphic design, his affinity for typography and his interest in re-purposing printed ephemera, Kareem’s densely textured and multi-layered works evolve from an intersection where fine art and design cross over.

Since 2008, Kareem’s work has been exhibited internationally in gallery shows and art fairs and
his original artworks hang in private collections around the world. Exhibition highlights include a solo show at The National Bank of Denmark (Copenhagen, Denmark), a group show in association with the Institute of Modern Art (Brisbane, Australia), group shows at The International Museum of Collage
(Sante Fe, USA) and co-curating an international group show, “Retroism” in Byron Bay, Australia.
Kareem has been represented by a number of international galleries including Smithson Projects (UK), formerly known as Smithson Gallery and his work has appeared in publications such as Art Review, The New York Times, Varoom, Financial Times, PlastikComb Magazine, Computer Arts,
Advanced Photoshop, Kolaj Magazine, Don’t Panic and The Gutenberg's Quarterly Concern.

Since earning a BDes in Graphic Design from Monash University (Victoria, Australia), Kareem has produced commissioned illustrations and artworks for various clients in art publishing, interior design, editorial publication and the boutique fashion industry. Clients include Wired, The Atlantic, IKEA, Chevrolet, Graniph Tokyo and The Academy of Country Music.
Kareem emigrated to Denmark in 2013 and lived and worked in Copenhagen for 6 years, where he
also completed a 1-year intensive course at a Danish language school. He now lives and works in the capitol region of Denmark, close to Copenhagen, with his wife and two children.
